James has lived and acted in San Francisco for the past thirty years.

On stage he has played many roles with San Jose Stage Company including Lenny in "Of Mice and Men", Chief Bromden in "One Flew over the Cuckoos' Nest", Cody in "Geography of a Horse Dreamer" and Dan in "The Mound Builders." He appeared in the world premiere of "Walls" as Scruggs at the Asian American Theatre Company and as Bartlett in "Back of the Throat" for Thick Description.

James has appeared in Looking, Trauma, Nash Bridges and The Midnight Caller for television. His short films include "The Last Glimmer", "A Blank Slate" and "No Deer for Dinner."

He also is a director and has directed the American premire of "Trainspotting" and the world premiere of "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre."
